Business Intelligence Program
Business Intelligence is not a one time project, rather it is a
business principle, and a lifetime process. As the business evolves
or changes, so too do the BI requirements.
A BI Program includes:
It is important to think of a BI program as a Performance Management
program, rather than a technology driven business intelligence program.
Adopting this approach is key to avoiding
failure of BI Projects within the program.

BI Program Mistakes
A Performance Management Program is an holistic
People-Process-Technology implementation that successfully links
together all of the key elements for managing performance, including:
- Balanced Scorecard
- Activity-based Costing and Management
- Quality Management
- Value-Based Management
....etc
All of these components involve processes, methodologies, metrics
and technologies, that collectively form a Performance
Management System. Whilst the underlying methodology
behind such programs is sound, the complexity of such projects and
the time to implementation is often such that they fail to meet
the needs for organizations to be sufficiently agile to meet the
fast pace of business today. As such, I strongly urge that any project
in these areas consider the timelines and how to ensure that the
outcomes are still valid once the program is completed.
